Morning Moments Matter: Inspiring Faith Story for Pet Lovers from Pawz and Pray Devotional

A Faith Story for Pet Lovers

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to let prayer slip down our list of priorities. But amid the chaos, our furry friends often serve as gentle reminders of faith and love. Enjoy this short faith story for pet lovers, inspired by my own dogs in my book, “Pawz & Pray,” and rediscover the joy of starting your day with Jesus.

In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. — Psalm 5:3

When anxious thoughts greet us with the sunrise, nag at us all day, and accompany us to bed, something is out of balance.
Recently, I became so overwhelmed with my “to-do” list that all I could do was cry. Yet while the storm was raging within, my dog lay calmly by my side, snuggled close, a comforting presence unfazed by worries.
As if speaking to my soul, she reminded me of the comfort and joy of staying close to Jesus—first thing each morning until the sun goes down.
I reflected on my dog’s joyful greetings each morning and her faithful companionship throughout the day . . .
Early the following day, I rolled out of bed and onto my knees.
I prayed, “Good morning, Jesus. There’s so much on my plate. I need your help . . .”
I lingered awhile, snuggling close to my sweet Savior, talking, listening, and reading Bible verses. Comforted and refreshed, I was ready to face the challenges ahead. But this time, I knew I wouldn’t be alone.
Those early morning prayers soon became a cherished routine, offering strength for the day ahead.
Friend, turning to God before setting out on our day can be one of the hardest things to do. It certainly was for me. I tend to think I can do “life” on my own when I was created to walk hand in hand with my Heavenly Father. Thankfully, my never-ending “to-do” list and faithful dogs remind me of my need for God.
Tomorrow, start your day with Jesus and follow Him faithfully throughout the day. He loves you and wants you to experience His presence with you, comforting, guiding, offering peace and hope!

Paws and Pray

Father, there’s so much to do each day. Remind me to turn to you first thing in the morning for help. Amen

Leila’s book has been a true inspiration to me. It makes you focus on what’s really important in life. The author gives us great examples on how we can have a closer walk with God by following the lead that our pets give us in their everyday life. “Pawz & Pray” encourages us to put our worry and anxiety aside and take time to enjoy the things God has put right in front of us. This book has touched my heart in an indescribable way. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves animals and wants to have a closer connection to our Heavenly Father.
