“A dog will teach you unconditional love. If you can have that in your life, things won’t be too bad.” –Robert Wagner
As I considered all the possible New Year’s resolutions I could make, I started feeling a bit overwhelmed. There’s so much I want to accomplish, and also improve on. Closing my eyes to pray, I asked God, “What should my New Year’s Resolution be?”
The words “more love” swirled around in my mind as I snuggled with my precious pup. To love and be loved is such a beautiful feeling! Especially when that love is unconditional. I felt like God brought me back to the basics of life, and the greatest commandment . . .

When I’m feeling blue, my dogs motivate me to get out and walk. And when I do, I always gain fresh perspective and feel happier!
Life is tough, and more often than not we find ourselves sitting inside lamenting our problems in the dark rather than getting outside and letting nature and sunshine help us heal.
Personally, I think dog owners have an amazing advantage in this area. Dogs need their daily walks or playtime outside. What better motivator to lay aside our problems and get outside and hang out with our furry friends!
If you’re feeling sad or troubled in heart, I’d like to encourage you to get your walking shoes on, and get outside. Let your dogs lead you to beautiful places where nature soothes the weary soul and vibrant colors ignite feelings of hope. Breath in the fresh air and exhale any worry and fear. See God in creation, be encouraged, and give thanks.
There are countless amazing benefits to walking your dog. These are just a few I’ve found personally helpful.

If you’re feeling sad, there’s probably one thing you’re looking for . . . RELIEF!In other words, you want to be happy again. What if I told you that snuggling has the potential to lift your spirit of heaviness?
During a difficult and busy season of my life, I found myself battling the blues. Day after day it lingered and I desperately wanted to find some relief. Then, late one evening, I was slumped in a chair, head down, with tears streaming down my face. My dog was right there at my feet and gently reached up to lick my tears. She then laid her head on my lap as if to say, “I’m here for you, wanna cuddle?” Of course I obliged and almost immediately felt relief from my sadness.
Happiness is found in many places, and for many people that place is in the company of their beloved dogs. Dogs always seem willing and ready to share their healing hugs, or to lend a listening ear.
Of course finding relief from sadness is not reserved only for our pets. Intimacy with others is one of the essential elements to make human beings happier, but we don’t often take enough time to sit and relax with those we love.
What if we took time to stop, sit, and snuggle more often? How would that affect our moods and outlook on life? Let’s consider how showing affection to our human companions (family and friends) and our pets can enhance our life.

“NO ONE IS USELESS IN THIS WORLD WHO LIGHTENS THE BURDENS OF ANOTHER.”—Charles Dickens
This inspirational quote of the day is a wonderful reminder that we all can play a part in helping those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
I’m in awe of all the wonderful stories I’m hearing about neighbors helping neighbors, as well as organizations who’ve rallied to help those in need. As an animal lover, I’m also deeply touched by all the incredible men and women working round the clock to help dogs, cats, horses, cattle, and all sorts of animals affected by Hurricane Harvey.
I just shared a short post on my other blog (Pawz and Pray) to highlight their efforts. Follow the link below if you’d like to read it. Thanks for visiting! See you soon 🙂

Shock, disbelief, and fear gripped my heart! I watched helplessly as our house filled with smoke knowing that my dogs were still inside.
Never was the Human-Canine Bond more evident than when I experienced a house fire! My husband had been relocated and was house hunting in another state, so I found myself all alone. Well, not really. I had my dogs! The story I’m about to share reaffirmed how incredibly powerful the human-canine bond is in helping people deal with stressful events.
