NEVER LOSE HOPE [Dog Mom Reflections]

As I think about the New Year, and consider the daily doom and gloom reports on the news, it’s tempting to lose hope and assume 2021 won’t be much better than 2020. But if my dogs have any say in the matter, I will never lose hope!

Each morning when I wake up (rain or shine) my dogs greet me with an uncanny optimism and with the most endearing expressions! It always makes me smile! Lily, shown in the photo, is modeling one of those adorable expressions for you, with her soulful eyes. One look into her eyes and I feel hope—that sweet peaceful knowing that tomorrow will be okay. 2020 has been a chaotic a year for millions around the world. And if you’re dealing with depression, know that you’re not alone.

To give you perspective, according to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (AADA), in 2015, around 16.1 million adults aged 18 years or older in the U.S. experienced at least one major depressive episode, which represents 6.7 percent of all American adults. In 2020, with the global pandemic gripping the world, COVID-19 has likely tripled depression rate, study finds.

There are different types of depressive disorders, and all sorts of treatment options. NEVER BE AFRAID [Short Encouraging Words]

Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.

Corrie Ten Boom

Heavenly Father, as I go about my day, please help me to trust you with all my heart and not lean on my own understanding of what I see and feel. Remind me that you are good, that you love me, and are with me. And help me to trust that you are sovereign over all the earth. I commit this day to you right now, and all my loved ones. Keep us in your loving care. Amen

Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take. — Proverbs 3:5-6

Receive God’s special gift to you today. Receive God’s sweet inner peace. Receive the assurance that no matter what’s going on around you, God is with you and you are deeply loved.

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

John 14:27

When Life Doesn’t Make Sense [Short Encouraging Words ]

I read a Chinese Proverb recently that says,

A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song.

Reading this got me thinking —What’s my song? What’s hidden within my heart that I can rely on when life doesn’t make sense?
