Adult Coloring Books are the newest craze and for good reason! Coloring helps us relax and focus, two qualities I’d like to have during my quiet time with the Lord, but it’s not always that easy.
Have you ever found yourself losing focus while reading God’s Word, feeling guilty for leaving your quiet time last on your to-do list, or skipping it altogether?
Been there, done that, but NO MORE!
YOUR QUIET TIME WITH THE LORD IS ABOUT TO TURN COLORFUL . . .
with our new Christian Coloring Book, Lord Help Me To Flourish, co-authored by Nathalie Villeneuve and myself. It’s really the first of its kind, and we’ve lovingly named it after two activities we both love—coloring, and devotional reading. Hence the name of our subtitle—
A COLORING DEVOTIONAL!
Our mission—to help women flourish in faith while experiencing God through the creative arts!
Your quiet time with the Lord should be the most EXCITING, REFRESHING, and FULFILLING time of the day!
Dear friend, God longs to meet with you as a close friend and refresh your spirit.
This book is food for the soul. But not just any food—it’s fun, flavorful, zesty, colorful, and nourishing!
I truly believe that once you taste and see that the Lord is good (Psalm 34:8), you’ll want more of God, and your quiet time with the Lord will become your most cherished time of day!
If that is something you long for, read on, share in our flourishing journey, and discover why this book is so unique!
When the first copy arrived in the mail, I felt like I’d birthed a baby, and I’m sure Nathalie felt the same. In fact, I waited to open the box until she was with me, and we unwrapped our new baby together, grinning from ear to ear as we took our first look. It was so beautiful!
I’m so excited to share why this book is unique!
As I strolled through the isles at Barnes and Noble, I was mesmerized by the adult coloring book section that seemed to be growing by the day! In another isle were the Christian Devotionals, with an equally large quantity of books. With our newly released adult Coloring Devotional in hand, I couldn’t help but ask myself,
“In which isle would I place it, the coloring section, or the devotional section?”
Well, here’s the beauty of it, it really needs its own section, because it takes the best of both worlds and combines them into one unique book! Hence the reason we’ve called it, A COLORING DEVOTIONAL!
In it, you’ll discover Nathalie’s inspirational paintings and coloring pages beautifully woven together with the devotional stories I’ve written. It’s really one message, which is why we love the phrase, A Coloring Devotional. There’s also a page for journaling what God may be whispering to your heart. What makes this book even more unique is that each coloring page is inspired by Nathalie’s original paintings. Not only are they a feast for the eyes, but they also speak to the heart. Actually, it was one of her paintings (Hope, the Ballerina on the Beach) that brought us together. I’ll be telling you that story in the book on pages 26 and 27.
That encounter was the start of a Flourishing Friendship! And the fruits of that friendship can be seen in our first book together—Lord, Help Me To Flourish. A Coloring Devotional. It’s truly a testament to the magic that happens when women come together in friendship and faith!
The very next day I dove right into our coloring devotional . . .
It was such fun coloring and reading through the 1st devotional, “Flourishing Faith”, and being reminded of what God had spoken to me months ago.
At the time of writing on the theme of “Flourishing Faith”, although I’ve been a Christian since the age of 16, I’m not sure I was feeling “full of faith”, so to speak. Like many of the devotionals, it seemed God was taking me through a test regarding each theme. If I was writing about faith, my faith was being tested. If I was writing about joy, it seemed that week my world was falling apart and I was struggling to smile. When I wrote about Flourishing Strength, that same week I broke my hand and felt incredibly weak and vulnerable. But something really interesting happened. Not only was God working through my weakness to reveal His glory, as shown in 2 Corinthians 12:10, but parallel to these devotionals, Nathalie was painting the images that would go with the theme . . .
Sometimes I saw them prior, other times I didn’t see them until after I was done writing. But often, while traveling whatever road God was leading me on, Nathalie would show me her painting and it would touch, inspire, and encourage my heart. I feel that her paintings “speak”, and I often heard God’s whisper through them.
It became evident that God was weaving our art into ONE MESSAGE, and encouraging us through each others art.
A year ago Nathalie and I would never have known all the twists and turns that God would lead us on while creating this Coloring Devotional. I’m so thankful to God for shaping and pruning my life throughout this project. It’s a wonderful thing to be in the hands of our Creator . . .and to be lovingly shaped and pruned into the image of our Father.
When I think of this book, I feel it’s unique in that the various “art forms”—painting, coloring, story-telling and creative writing— all work together, as one message, flowing one into the other, leading you . . . as if on a journey.
May you feel God’s hand guiding, and His loving warm embrace throughout each section of this Christian Coloring book—Lord, Help Me To Flourish, A Coloring Devotional. I know Nathalie would agree when I say, we are so honored to travel this flourishing journey with you, and to offer you the fruits of what God has done in our lives.
May we bloom and grow together, for God’s purpose, and for His glory! Amen.
