3 Powerful Keys to Enjoying Life’s Journey

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”— Jeremiah 29:11

You’ve probably heard someone say—“Relax, enjoy the journey.”

It’s an awesome encouragement, but, it’s not always easy to relax and find joy when your hurting, anxious, and worried about tomorrow.

So, what’s the key to finding joy in life, especially when times are tough?

Having observed my dogs day in and day out for years, I think the secret to their joyful attitude is their complete trust in me. They know without a doubt that I love them and always look out for them. That trust allows them to enjoy life and follow wherever I go, without fear.

Their example encourages me to worry less and trust God’s plan. How could I not trust his plan, after all he went through on the cross, suffering an excruciating death to demonstrate his undying love for me?

God says in Jeremiah 29:11–

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

Jeremiah 29:11 gives us 3 powerful keys to help us trust God and enjoy life’s journey:

1. God knows the future;

2. God has a hand tailored plan for us that works for our good; and

3. God loves us and wants to give us a hope and a future!

When your heart is heavy and the future looks bleak, say this out loud

GOD KNOWS THE FUTURE.

GOD LOVES ME AND HAS A PLAN FOR MY LIFE.

WITH GOD, I HAVE HOPE FOR TOMORROW!

Friend, you were meant for so much more than a life marked by anxiety and fear. God wants you to know that he loves you, that he’s good, and that you can trust his plan every moment of the day. So, relax as you go about your work and activities. Be joyful, or at the very least, be content.

And when you can’t see his plan, trust his heart. Remember— God loves you and has a plan for your life.

Will you trust his plan today?

Heavenly Father, you are so good! Thank you for giving me a hope and a future. Please help me to trust your plan and enjoy the journey You have set before me.

Amen

  1. I experienced that feeling once, when I was traveling alone and had spent most or all of the day focused on God and fellowshipping with Him. I was on a small plane that hit some turbulence. The first-time flyer across the aisle from me was gripping the armrests in terror, but I felt as though my Daddy was bouncing me on His knee. It was actually fun. 😉

    1. Oh wow, I love that story! It encourages me because I hate turbulence on a plane. But now I’ll think of Daddy bouncing me on his knee. Thank you for sharing that. It’s all about trusting our Daddy. Hope you are well 😃
