Did you know today is National Love a Tree Day?
As someone who loves spending time outdoors, I have to admit something… I occasionally hug trees. 🌳
There’s just something peaceful about standing beneath their branches, feeling the breeze, listening to the birds, and remembering the goodness of God.
Here are three reasons I’m thankful for trees:
1. They provide shade and comfort.
On a hot day, a tree offers a cool place to rest and refresh. Whether you’re enjoying a picnic, walking your dog, or simply sitting quietly, trees create welcoming spaces to slow down and breathe. Sometimes all it takes is a shady spot beneath a tree to make the world feel a little calmer.
2. They shelter birds and wildlife.
Trees are bustling little neighborhoods filled with nests, squirrels, songbirds, and all kinds of creatures. I love pausing to watch birds flit from branch to branch or listening to their songs overhead. A single tree can support an entire community of life, reminding us how beautifully interconnected God’s creation is.
3. They remind us of God’s goodness.
Trees stand faithfully through every season, quietly pointing us to the Creator who cares for all of creation—and for us. They weather storms, endure winter, and burst forth with new life in spring. Whenever I see a majestic tree, I’m reminded that God’s care and faithfulness are all around us if we take the time to notice.
Today, take a moment to pause beneath a tree, breathe deeply, and give thanks.
“Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy.” — Psalm 96:12
