International Hug Your Cat Day: Hugs, Purrs, and Pure Love

Today is International Hug Your Cat Day—a fun reminder to pause and appreciate the furry friends who bring comfort, companionship, and joy into our lives.

I don’t currently have a cat, but I’ve always admired their gentle purrs, soft fur, and unique personalities. Some cats are playful and adventurous. Others are quiet companions who seem to know exactly when we need a little extra comfort.

My very first cat was definitely the adventurous type! We found him as a tiny baby in a barn. He was full of curiosity, energy, and a mind of his own. He kept me on my toes and gave me plenty of stories to tell over the years.

There’s something special about the way animals enrich our lives. A warm purr, a contented stretch in a sunny window, or a cat curling up beside us can brighten even an ordinary day.

I believe our pets are among God’s many gifts—small reminders of love, beauty, and the joy found in life’s simple moments. They encourage us to slow down, enjoy the present, and appreciate the blessings all around us.

So today, give your cat an extra hug, a few extra snuggles, or perhaps a special treat. Take a moment to appreciate the happiness they bring to your home and heart.

Hugs.

Purrs.

Pure love.

And if you’re celebrating without a cat of your own, perhaps simply enjoy a smile from a favorite cat photo or a happy memory of a beloved feline friend.
