Hope is the confident expectation of good things from God!
Everyone hurts. Everyone needs hope!
When life feels hard,
When your circumstances are messed up,
When you’ve lost your smile and daily motivation,
and nothing seems to be going your way,
what can keep your from giving up?
Hope is the confident expectation of good things. Yes, that’s true. But for the child of God, those good things are sought from the hand of the Father. So I like to define hope as—
The confident expectation of good things from God.
Placing your hope in God allows you to believe that:
- God loves you.
- God has a plan.
- God has a purpose.
- God cares.
- God is working things for good.
- God’s timing is perfect.
- Better days are ahead!
The following 25 Bible verses have been a huge encouragement to me over the years. I pray, as you read them, you will sense God speaking directly to your heart. Take your time. Meditate on each one. Hide them in your heart. Let God’s Word speak to you and lift you up!
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. — Romans 15:13
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. — Romans 12:12

The unfailing love of the LORD never ends! By his mercies we have been kept from complete destruction. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each day. I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him! — Lamentations 3:22-24
Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. — Romans 5:2-5
For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. — Romans 8:24-25

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glorythat far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. — 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven. — Philippians 3:13-14
