How do you survive the lockdown blues? Me, I dance with my dogs!
Enjoy this improvised canine freestyle dance video to the song “Total Eclipse of the Heart.” I put it together with my incredibly sweet and talented standard poodle today, in an effort to ward off the lockdown blues. I hope it will lift your spirits and brighten your day.

Heavenly Father, as I go about my day, please help me to trust you with all my heart and not lean on my own understanding of what I see and feel. Remind me that you are good, that you love me, and are with me. And help me to trust that you are sovereign over all the earth. I commit this day to you right now, and all my loved ones. Keep us in your loving care. Amen
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. — Proverbs 3:5-6
My dogs run after many things! But I’ve never seen them chase anything that doesn’t hold the promise of a yummy reward! Throughout your life, you’ve probably pursued many things as well. No doubt, most of these also had attached to them the promise of a delicious reward. Today, I’d like to encourage you to pursue (run after with all your heart!) Jesus Christ. The reward of pursuing him is unlike anything else!
Wouldn’t it be nice to have angels watching over us? Well, that’s not wishful thinking. According to Psalm 91, it’s Truth. If you’re facing a giant today and need protection, read on.
Psalm 91 is a beautiful psalm of trust in God’s loving care and protection. It’s incredibly comforting to read and pray, and realize that God has a whole host of heavenly messengers ready to do his bidding— to guard those who take shelter in him, who trust him with all their heart. May God watch over you and protect you, and infuse you with his peace today as you meditate on this awesome Psalm and commit to trusting in him!
Let’s pray Psalm 91 from the Voice translation. Pray it in the first person, for example in verse 1 we’d pray:
I will take refuge in the shelter of the Most High and will be safe in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Eternal…”
Things seemed to be going smoothly, and then all of a sudden, for no apparent reason, the road we’re walking takes a terrible turn and we find ourselves trudging through a dark valley. We long for answers, direction, and relief, but don’t always find them. Feelings of discouragement follow . . .
I read a Chinese Proverb recently that says,
A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song.
Reading this got me thinking —What’s my song? What’s hidden within my heart that I can rely on when life doesn’t make sense?
