When I’m feeling blue, my dogs motivate me to get out and walk. And when I do, I always gain fresh perspective and feel happier!
Life is tough, and more often than not we find ourselves sitting inside lamenting our problems in the dark rather than getting outside and letting nature and sunshine help us heal.
Personally, I think dog owners have an amazing advantage in this area. Dogs need their daily walks or playtime outside. What better motivator to lay aside our problems and get outside and hang out with our furry friends!
If you’re feeling sad or troubled in heart, I’d like to encourage you to get your walking shoes on, and get outside. Let your dogs lead you to beautiful places where nature soothes the weary soul and vibrant colors ignite feelings of hope. Breath in the fresh air and exhale any worry and fear. See God in creation, be encouraged, and give thanks.

What does praising God have to do with chronic pain? I certainly don’t feel like praising God when I’m in pain. I feel more like curling up on the sofa with a heating pad and a hot cup of tea. Yet praise and worship is absolutely essential to our happiness and ability to press on when dealing with chronic pain.
Happiness Tip for Troubled hearts #3, Praise God at all times, especially when in pain. Praise acts like a healing balm, reviving weary bones, calming troubled hearts, and renewing the anxious mind. Praise takes the focus off the pain, and places it on God, the source of our healing, help, and hope!

Dear friend, if you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or feelings of loneliness, it’s especially important to begin each day with prayer, laying your requests before the Lord. Then, all that God asks of you is to wait with an expectant heart. Expect that God will work during the day in the details of your life. He cares for you, and would do nothing less. Nothing is too difficult for God!
Do you need courage?
Do you need peace?
Do you need hope?

Love’s Gentle Nudge . . .
When physical or emotional pain feels all-consuming, it can be hard to stay focused on certain Bible truths, like “God is good”, and “God is loving and faithful.” Consequently it can be tempting to refrain from praise and worship, and wallow in self-pity or doubt. And yet choosing this course never helps. In fact it only hinders our healing. So what do we do?
We must never allow the circumstances of life to affect our worship. Rather, we must let our fervent and heartfelt worship affect the circumstances of life. It’s not easy…but it is possible, by God’s grace.
