Are you happy? I mean deep inside where no one else sees. If not, you are not alone. We’re all running and chasing after happiness. Sometimes we catch up to her and enjoy her sweetness. Other times, she seems a million miles away and we’re left feeling abandoned and discouraged. There are also times she seems so close we can see her face, and yet each time we grab hold of her hand she slips away. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could find her, hold on, and never be separated from her? Is this wishful thinking?Read more
“Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Neh.8:10
JOY! What a powerful word! We seek it with all our heart, and we would do most anything to find it!
But how do we get it? How do we experience a cheerful heart in daily life?
The simplest way is obviously to do everything in our power to have life go well for us, to experience sunny days and all good things. But we all know that’s not possible, at least not every single day. There are many things that are simply out of our control. And so we must dig deeper for the source of unending joy. And mostly, we must choose it daily!
All too often we depend on our circumstances to make us happy. However, JOY based on circumstances alone is like being on a roller coaster ride . . .
One day UP, one day DOWN, up, down, up, down… ever changing, uncertain, it drains our energy and makes us weak.
However, JOY based on the LORD ( a confident trust in His Word, His promises, and His nature) is a firm foundation for our lives! For while we travel up and down along life’s journey, we remain stable, strong, unshakable, and full of joy and peace.
Take heart dear friend! Joy is not hidden from you. It’s as close as Jesus is to you. And He is right beside you. Jesus is your friend. He loves you, and wants to impart His joy you you. Psalm 16:11 tells us that in His presence is fullness of joy!
Now, look up. Go about your day with eyes fixed on Jesus. Lean on Him. Talk to Him. Meditate on His Word. Sing His praise. Draw your hope from Him. Believe that He loves you, is walking beside you, and working ALL things for your good. Let Him be your strength. He won’t fail you.
Help me not to rely on my feelings today, but on you! Steady my soul. Help me to become more aware of your presence with me. And mostly, help me to experience your peace and joy. Amen

When you feel alone, unsteady, frazzled, shaken up, pushed to your limits and even crushed, cling to this promise from Psalm 16:8, as if clinging to God Himself:
“I have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”
Now, press on with eyes fixed on Jesus, believing that He loves you, is walking beside you, and working ALL things for your good, and for His glory!
I have no idea what today holds, but I know you are always with me. Therefore I will not be shaken. Amen

Beloved Child of God . . .
Be still. Be present. Be in the moment with a grateful heart. Don’t let your thoughts run ahead. Don’t fret and worry . . .
Trust God. Trust in his love for you. Trust in his plan.
Be still, and know that God is God over all that is happening today!
Be still, and know that God loves you.
Be still and trust in his Sovereign plan.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”
Are you struggling to find joy today? Recently I found myself in that struggle for joy, and was encouraged by a short yet powerful Bible verse. The apostle Paul writes, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4). I find it interesting that the word “rejoice” is repeated twice at the start of this verse. The writer must have known how hard it is for us to rejoice at times, and offers strong encouragement. Yet this encouragement comes from the object of our joy. Notice he says, “Rejoice in the Lord...”
As I mediated on the Lord and all the good things he had done for me throughout my life, the heaviness began to lift and was replaced by sweet peace. If you’re feeling anxious today, fight that battle by refocusing on Jesus, and rejoicing in who he is and all he has done for you. The Psalmist writes: “Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me” (Psalm 103:1-2).Continue reading “REJOICE! [Short Encouraging Words for Anxious Hearts]”
It’s May and Things are Finally Flourishing!
Think of all the beauty still around you and be happy. — Anne Frank
May blessings! With all the sadness in the world right now I thought I would bring you a little sunshine to brighten your day. The month of May is upon us and things are flourishing. My garden is proof of this. The grass is green, the roses are in bloom, and there are buds everywhere opening up! I love walking in my garden. But today, as I was admiring all the flourishing plants, I sensed a sort of paradox.Continue reading “May Blessings [Things are Finally Flourishing!]”
