What would you give Jesus for Christmas?
When I first read the following poem, “Gift To Jesus— A Dog”, I was quickly drawn to the delightful idea of giving a gift to Jesus, and that gift being a dog! I wish someone had given Jesus a dog as devoted and sweet as all the dog’s I’ve known. This is a photo of one of my dogs, snuggling with me. Her fervent love, adoring eyes, and unwavering friendship has always been an incredible comfort. Join with me in imagining a very special gift to Jesus, with this heart-warming poem by Jane Sears.
Gift To Jesus— A Dog , by Jane L. Sears
I wish that someone had given little Jesus
a dog as loyal as mine
to sleep by His manger and gaze in His eyes
and adore Him for being divine.
As Our Lord grew to manhood, His own faithful dog
would have followed Him all through the day
while he preached to the crowds and made the sick well
and knelt in the Garden to pray.
It is sad to remember that Christ went away
to face death alone and apart,
with no tender dog following close behind
to comfort its Master’s heart.
And when Jesus rose on that Easter morn,
how happy He would have been
as His dog kissed
His hand and barked its delight
for the One who died for all men!
Warm Christmas wishes to all!

“Leila’s book has been a true inspiration to me. It makes you focus on what’s really important in life. The author gives us great examples on how we can have a closer walk with God by following the lead that our pets give us in their everyday life. “Pawz & Pray” encourages us to put our worry and anxiety aside and take time to enjoy the things God has put right in front of us. This book has touched my heart in an indescribable way. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves animals and wants to have a closer connection to our Heavenly Father.”

I had to smile, picturing Jesus’ dog. I love dogs – their loyalty, their affection, wanting to be with you constantly, their unconditional acceptance … Kind of describes the kind of followers we should be! (>Lightbulb!<) Let's give Jesus OURSELVES for His birthday. 😉
