Today, Give a Stranger a Smile

sunshine quote

“Today, give a stranger one of your smiles. It might be the only sunshine he sees all day.” H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
A smile is so simple, yet so powerful. When I’m feeling down and someone smiles at me, it really helps cheer me up.
The world can be a lonely place. There are folks all around us that could probably use a little cheering up today. Why not share a smile?
Sometimes we walk through our day so self focused (i.e. face fixed to our Iphone) that we lose sight of all the opportunities around us to share God’s love. Sharing God’s love doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be as simple as a smile.
Today, let someone see your smile. It might be the only sunshine they see all day. Mother Teresa wrote, “Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.”
Heavenly Father, please help me to smile today. Help me to put my worries aside along enough to notice those around me, and to share your love. Amen

  1. The other day I was verbally attacked by someone I had spent a great deal of time, energy, and money trying to help. I needed to get away and try to put the situation out of my mind, so I took a walk in the beautiful spring sunshine. During the next hour I met two strangers (one from England, one from Russia!) who were so friendly and a pleasure to talk to. I’m sure they have no idea how God used them to soothe my wounded heart. I walked home smiling, thinking how God has filled the world with so many nice people who bless one another just letting His sun shine through them.

    1. Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry that happened to you. I’m thankful God channeled His light and love through those two strangers, to lift your spirits. He’s so good. I agree the world is filled with beautiful people who God uses to bless others. Praying you’ll have a fabulous week ahead and that the painful memory will fade away. Thank you for sharing this story. Truly shines light on God’s goodness and love ❤️
