When You’re Feeling Anxious

“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.”–Psalm 94:19

The other day a little girl asked me to pray for her. I said, “Sure, what would you like me to pray for?” She whispered softly, “I’m feeling anxious.”

Anxiety does not discriminate. It can affect anyone, no matter what age, race, or religion. For those who suffer from anxiety, it can be disabling. Thankfully there is help out there. Many have found help through medicine, counseling, and God’s Word.

I’ve found tremendous comfort by meditating on God’s Word and letting it renew my mind. Jesus said, in this world we would have trouble. He didn’t promise to take us out of this world, or to take away our problems, but He did promise to walk with us through every valley, to catch every tear, and to comfort, guide, and help us as we trust in His Word. He’s a good, good Father.

We might still feel afraid at times, but we can trust that God is with us. We may not feel in control, but we can trust that God is in control. We may not know what the future holds, but we can trust that God holds the future, and deeply loves us.

After praying for the little girl, I encouraged her saying,

“I know how you feel. I’ve felt anxious many times in life, and still do at times. Jesus helps me when I talk to Him. You can talk to Him too. He loves you so much!”

She smiled and hugged me.

Dear friend, it may feel strange to talk to God when you’re feeling anxious. But go ahead and talk to Him. Have faith that He is with you, that He is listening to you, and that He absolutely loves you. May God calm your fears and restore your peace and joy !

  1. This is good. I rarely deal with anxiety but when I do it has been the promises of God’s word that I have looked to for comfort and reassurance. And David was one whom felt anxious a lot so the Psalms are certainly a great place to process anxiety. The comfort of those around us is also a great antidote to anxiety in our lives!

    1. Mitchell, thank you for sharing. What an encouraging testimony! I love what you said, that the Psalm are a great place to process anxiety. I wholeheartedly agree, and turn often to the Psalm for comfort. I’m also grateful for the comfort of family and friends. So happy you stopped by, and thank you for the follow. God bless you!
