When The Past Still Hurts

Dwell on all things beautiful!

Sometimes thoughts come to remind us of past hurts. Those thoughts sneak in unannounced, and are unwelcome. Immediately our gaze lowers, our heart aches. Dear friends, this does not have to be…

Take every thought captive. Refocus on all things beautiful! Meditate on things that are pure, lovely, holy, and uplifting, and God will restore your peace.

Recall your commitment to forgive, and renew your decision to entrust the situation to God.

If you have not already forgiven (yourself and/or those who hurt you), please do so without delay. Even if your “enemy” has not asked forgiveness, you can still release them to God. Look to Jesus for inspiration. When Jesus was on the cross, He said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). He forgave all His enemies, even though none asked.

Dear friend, be encouraged. Leave the past in the past, entrust it to God, and look forward with hope. Don’t let the past rob you of present joy. Always remember that God loves you and has a plan for your life 🧡
