Happiness Tips for Troubled Hearts [#1]

encouraging thoughts

Are you feeling anxious, discouraged, or lonely?

A troubled heart is hard to bare, and often feels like a weight carried around deep within the spirit.

“Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.”— Proverbs 12:25

For those experiencing a heavy heart today, may I offer a few kind words to cheer you up?

Be encouraged! With God, there is always hope for better days. And the best part is that you don’t have to wait to experience inner peace and true happiness. God offers us His joy and peace moment by moment, and there’s no better time than this present moment to experience it. I’ll be sharing a few happiness tips in the coming weeks that have helped me along life’s journey during times of need.

Happiness Tip for troubled hearts #1: Count your blessings

Call to mind God’s blessings moment by moment, especially when things seem at their worse. A thankful heart cannot exist with an anxious heart. Try taking a “thank you God” walk daily, and count your blessings with each step, being mindful of the moment at hand, your surroundings, and your breath. Before you know it your focus will shift from fear to faith, and the weight you are carrying will be lifted by God.

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”—Matthew 11:28-30 NLT

The Message translation puts it this way . . .

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!—Psalm 106:1

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him (Romans 15:13).

Hope be with you!
