Fear Not . . .
And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” —Luke 2:10-11, ESV
In a world where people are often paralyzed with fear, it gladdens my heart to hear that the first words the angels brought us regarding the birth of Jesus was “Fear not!”
As we celebrate the birth of Christ and look ahead to a new year, let’s remember these first words: “Fear not.” These are the same words the angel shared with the terrified shepherds that first Christmas night. These are also the same words spoken throughout the Bible 365 times!
Dear friends, whatever “fears” (anxiety, worry, doubt …) are knocking at your door this Christmas, know that you have the ability and power, through Christ, to close that door and open a new one. This new door is one that leads to love, joy, peace, power, everlasting joy in God’s presence, and HOPE!
“… but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!” (Luke 2:10-11).
“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)
It is my earnest prayer the “Prince of Peace” will rule in your heart in this moment and all throughout the New year! Fear not, you are not alone. God is with you, even now. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him.” —Romans 15:13
