Key Benefit of a Broken Heart [according to James]

May your broken heart heal

The pain of a broken heart is as real as they come! All we can think about is the pain and all the negative aspects of feeling broken (rejection, feeling unloved, lonely, afraid . . .)

But what if there was a benefit to a broken heart? What if there was purpose for your pain?

Let me begin by saying, if you’re reading this and your heart is broken, I feel for you, and I’m terribly sorry. It’s a shock to the system (I’ve been there), and you are probably grieving. But here is the good news. The most grueling roads often lead to the most beautiful destinations! Stay positive. Beautiful things are in the making!

Here is one key benefit (learned from experience) to focus on to speed up the healing process . . .

The key benefit of a broken heart is that as we walk through the steps of healing, we become stronger, wiser, and more beautiful on the other side!

James 1:1-4 puts it this way,“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

If we embrace the pain, learn from it and let it mold us, we will embark on one of the most incredible and fascinating journey’s we will ever take! According to James, we will become mature, complete, not lacking in anything! That’s something happy to look forward to

Trust God to lead

“Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you.” ~ Ps.55:22

Let’s pray

Dear Father in Heaven, please help me. My heart is broken . . .how will I face the day? Help me to trust that there is purpose in my pain. Help me to be patient while I heal. I give you all my worries, anxiety, and fear. I give you my pain and sorrow, and ask You to mend my broken heart and make me happy and whole. Instead of anger and bitterness, please fill my heart with forgiveness, mercy, and grace. I commit my life, and all my relationships— past, present, and future— into Your hands. Please send good friends and wise counselors my way to help me heal. Amen

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;
    he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” ~ Psalm 34:18

Healing hugs! Hang in there!
