“Hate has no home in my heart. There’s only room for light and love.”~ Leila Grandemange
The recent horrific acts of violence and racism in Charlottesville Virginia reminded me how much I hate the word HATE!
Yesterday I told my friend, “Hate has no home in my heart. There’s only room for light and love.” My friend responded, “True, but there are some things we can hate. We can hate the things God hates (acts of evil), and we must love the things God loves (acts of kindness, generosity, good . . .).” So I looked in the Bible to read more specifically what God hates.
Here are 7 things God hates, taken from Proverbs 6:16-19 The Message Translation
Seven Things God Hates
“Here are six things God hates,
and one more that he loathes with a passion: eyes that are arrogant,
a tongue that lies,
hands that murder the innocent,
a heart that hatches evil plots,
feet that race down a wicked track,
a mouth that lies under oath,
a troublemaker in the family.”
I believe that God hated what happened in Charlottesville, as I’m sure we all do. Yet I feel so helpless to inspire change in my little corner of the world. But for what it’s worth, I’ll continue to add my drop of light and love into the ocean of humanity. Maybe, somehow, it can help to heal the wounds of our nation. Please join me in sharing light and love to everyone you meet—your family and friends, your neighbors and colleagues, and on your social media pages. Light dispels darkness. Light and love heal . . .
Let’s be healers, not haters . . . except for the things God hates.
Prayers sent for all who’ve been wounded in Charlottesville, and throughout our nation.
“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.” ~ Mother Teresa
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” ~ Matthew 5:16
Hope be with you!
