So here’s my first time going live on Facebook . . . just a little welcome to my office, and to the fabulous hope-filled Facebook page, Lord Help Me To Flourish. At one point I wasn’t sure if it was working and I paused, so hang on a few seconds with me, and then I get right back in to it. Oh, and you’ll also meet my amazing Poodle!!!
Here are some thoughts after the experience . . .
Have you ever wanted to go live on Facebook but got cold feet?
Just think about ALL THE THINGS THAT MIGHT GO WRONG!!!
Actually, let’s not think about it! Haha! Sometimes it’s just easier to take the plunge!
So here are 3 things I learned from the “going live” experience! I’m still learning. Can’t wait to do more videos and connect with family and friends, and anyone following my blogs!
- Be Yourself—Place your fears (even your goals) aside for a moment and just be yourself. Going live is all about that personal encounter. Pretend you’re having tea with a friend. Don’t allow fear to paralyze you. What’s the worse that can happen? Someone might think you’re a bit silly? And soooooo, who cares? Life is too short to let your fears dampen your dreams and steal your joy! I truly believe that people just want to see “real folks”, with all the bloops and bleeps. No photo shop, no editing, just the “real deal!” That’s the beauty of LIVE streaming, and authenticity!
- Be Creative—With fear put aside, you can now be the real you, and creativity will flow! Share from the heart. Don’t worry about your hair, make-up, what you will say . . . the ideas will come. We’ve all got a creative core, we just need to tap into it!
- Be Fun—Just have some fun with the concept of “going live!” Take the plunge, splash some water, smile, laugh, be silly and sassy . . . it’s all good! Laughter breaks the ice for both you and those you’re speaking to/with. We can get so focused on our goals, and bogged down with what we want to say, that we forget just to have fun. Everyone loves some good cheer! Oh, and don’t be afraid to share a little about yourself—likes, dislikes, hobbies. You got this!
So are you ready to be yourself, be creative, and have some fun? Who knows, this could be the first step in helping to ignite your Facebook fans, promote yourself as an author, reach new audiences, connect with customers, or just have some fun telling a story to family and friends!

Once you take that plunge, and banish those first time jitters, then you can get a bit more organized and work on some clear goals for your upcoming live broadcasts. Maybe once I figure that part out I’ll share what I learned. But for now, let’s just have some fun!
