My heart is bursting with hope, because I know that God is making me BRAVE!
It’s what I’ve longed for all my life. This hope was not birthed from the “good times”, rather from trials crashing over me, one after another. Those waves hurt, they pound, they even make me feel like I’m drowning at times. But the result of all these trials is soooooo good—GOD IS MAKING ME BRAVE!!!
I’ve heard people tell me, “But God has already made you brave!” Well, that may be true, but I don’t feel brave, and I often cry my way through the valley when trials come my way. But I have a little secret to share . . .
Bravery is not defined by Disney and all the movies that portray super heroes! Being “brave” is all about leaning on, trusting in, and hoping in Jesus Christ— “Little me, BIG GOD!”
Tears can reflect strength, and “weakness” reveals God’s power in our lives. If I could hold each one of you who is suffering right now and look you in the eyes, I’d tell you that—
No weapon formed against you shall prosper! (Isaiah 54:17),
and what the enemy means for evil, God means for good!
Dear friends, REJOICE! The trials you are facing are making you brave. I know, because that’s what God is doing for me as I pass through the valley, and walk through the fire . . .
Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. —James 1:2-4
Watch this video, “You Make Me Brave” by Bethel Music. I’m sure many of you, like me, will relate to this little girl. In fact, she could be anyone of us . . . searching for hope, for answers, for the courage to get through the day, and to press on past our fears. My favorite part is when the children in the background break loose and let their banners fly, twirl, and wave! They are declaring God’s GLORY, VICTORY, AND LOVE FOR YOU AND ME!
Pray with me . . .
Dear God, make me brave. Help me to believe that ALL I am going through right now has a purpose. Enfold me within Your loving arms. I need You right now, and am calling on Your precious, Holy, and mighty name. Thank you for every trial I face. Thank you for making me BRAVE! Amen
