“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.”—Desmund Tutu
Are you feeling anxious and in need of prayer?
“Come to Me,” says Jesus, “and I will give to rest.” Ahhh sweet rest! Rest from our worries and fears . . . peace of mind and heart. Sounds too good to be true! Yet Jesus says. . .
“Peace, be still” to the storm, when His disciples were in the boat panicking and fearing for their lives. The Message translation of Mark 4:39 describes the scene with these words,
“Awake now, he told the wind to pipe down and said to the sea, “Quiet! Settle down!” The wind ran out of breath; the sea became smooth as glass. “
Can you imagine God speaking directly to your anxiety saying, “Quiet! Settle down!” and then experiencing a peace that surpasses your understanding?
I’m trusting that God’s peace is entering your heart even now while you read. Focus on His unconditional love for you and trust in His ability to calm your storm. There are tons of books written on the subject of anxiety, anxiety disorders, and all that’s related such as fear and depression. Like many of you, I’ve experienced times of anxiety in life. Looking back, I can truly say that more than anything else, prayer and thanksgiving acted as a light house guiding me safely to shore.
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 4:6-7 NLT
Samuel Smiles said, “Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.” That “sun” dear friend, is Jesus Christ. He is the light house that will guide you safely to shore. If you’re feeling lost or hopeless, please reach out for help from a friend, Pastor, or a professional counselor. Also, never forget to reach our to God through prayer . . .
Our Heavenly Father,
My life and situation are not hidden from Your eyes. I ask You to give me hope and the assurance that You are here with me guiding my every step. I surrender to You now all the anxiety, fear, depression, and any other problems and challenges I’m facing and I resign from taking control over my life. I’ve been running my life my own way, and I’m sorry. Please be the divine ruler over all areas of my life. I give to You every area of weakness, defeat, failure, lack, and hopelessness. Revive me once again to hope, trust, love, and be joyful and peaceful in Your presence. Please help me and show me the way out of my despair. I put all of my trust in You. In Jesus name. Amen.
“May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him.” Romans 15:13
Hope be with you!
